Position Title - Technical Director

The Technical Director oversees all aspects of audio, visual and lighting (AVL) production at Sojourn East, with primary emphasis on the production of Sunday services. In this capacity, the Technical Director is also responsible for recruiting, training and managing our Technical Team--volunteers from our church body who work behind the scenes to make our events look and sound good. The Technical Director is also responsible for supporting ministry teams at Sojourn East by supplying AVL equipment and volunteer staffing necessary for the many events we produce throughout the year. Finally, the Technical Director is responsible for our inventory of AVL equipment, providing for the care and maintenance of existing equipment, as well as the sunsetting and replacement of outdated or broken equipment.

- Recruit, Train & Manage Volunteer Tech Team
- Support the Worship Team
- Support ministries needing AVL for events
- Collaborate with Sojourn East staff in weekly staff meetings & projects
- Recommend, maintain & manage AVL equipment inventory
- Continuous improvement of people & processes
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
This position must have experience in all areas of AVL, with advanced skills in audio production. This includes mixing live and recorded audio, setting and striking stages, patching and signal flow, tuning cameras and color balancing stage lighting. In addition to technical skills, the success of the Technical Director will depend on people skills—the ability to collaborate, lead and manage conflict. Demonstrable skill in this area is a must. Finally, the successful candidate must thrive under deadline pressure, able to think on his/her feet, problem-solve and lead people well while producing a live broadcast.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The Technical Director will be responsible for setting the stage each week and set up for events. This requires lifting heavy equipment, and occasionally being outdoors for long periods of time. Occasionally, the position may require climbing ladders. This position will also interact with electronics for long durations, often in dim, underlit environments.
