WHAT’S HAPPENING at S2
S2 Middle School Overnight Retreat
March 6-7
Middle School Overnight Retreat is an event for Middle School students designed to deepen students' faith and discipleship through a variety of activities and teachings. The goal is to help young people connect with God and grow in their faith through a combination of worship, teaching, small group discussions, and fun activities.
S2 High School Camping Trip
May 8-9
Attention high school students! Join us for a fun weekend camping at Koomer Ridge Campground in Red River Gorge. We’ll spend time hiking, eating great food, playing games, and enjoying God’s presence together as we explore His creation, build friendships, and learn from His Word.
We’ll leave from the East parking lot on Friday, May 8 at 5:30 PM and return on Saturday, May 9 around 9 PM. The cost is $35 per student, which covers transportation and meals. Students should bring additional money for dinner at Miguel’s Pizza on Saturday evening.
We’ll be camping in the Daniel Boone National Forest (Campgrounds 31 & 32), with guys and girls staying in separate camp areas. After registering, Rodrigo will send additional details, including trip logistics and a packing list. Questions? Contact Rodrigo.
S2 MS & HS Summer Camp
July 9-13
Camp is easily the highlight of our entire year in S2! It is the perfect place to try new adventures (from zip-lining to becoming our new blob of the week), make new friends or deepen existing friendships as we bunk up together for a few days, and learn more about who Jesus is and why that matters for you.
This year's dates are July 9-13th and you don't want to miss it! Both our middle school and high school students will be heading back to Crossings Camp at their Cedarmore Location in Kentucky. Address: 3083 Cedarmore Road, Bagdad, KY, 40003.
KIDS DON'T NEED MESSAGES.
They need messengers and a place to belong.
Teens need caring adult friendships to not just talk and teach about the Christian life, but to model it and live it out with them. We know how formative the teen years are, and how important building a Christian worldview and authentic relationships are during this season. Therefore, we seek to provide a safe environment where students are loved, known by name, and challenged to prize Jesus above all things. We meet weekly, to stay connected with students, have fun, and talk about things that matter.
WEEKLY MEET-UPS
Wednesday and Sunday nights are our central touchpoints in the week with students where we enjoy fun activities, establish meaningful relationships, and engage with the truth of God’s Word. Both High & Middle School groups start off with social hangout time, move to a more formalized game/high energy activity time, transition into teaching time, and end with small groups (gender specific in middle school, non-gender specific in highschool).
Weekly Gatherings:
- Middle School - Wednesday nights, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
- High School - Sunday nights, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
(both groups meet in the Chapel)

Leadership Spotlight
JON MALKO
Jon has been faithfully serving students at S2 for over 8 years! His incredible commitment to the ministry, love for students, and desire to see them grow into the likeness of Jesus are just a few things that make him a great leader to our students and asset to our entire church community! Given Jon's longevity in serving and doing meaningful Kingdom-work, he is able to see the fruits of his work considering that several students he has invested in the past now serve at S2 alongside him or at other ministries at Sojourn while continuing to grow in their faith. We hope that stories like Jon's will inspire you to partner with S2 as a leader and/or parent volunteer with the goal that our students will live in the fullness of life that Jesus offers!

As an S2 leader, you have the opportunity to be part of an incredible ministry with unlimited opportunities to grow and have a lifelong impact on teenagers. You don't need experience with teens or youth ministry. We'll equip you and train you. All you need is a willing and teachable heart to fully engage in our fellowship of leaders and the world of teenagers.
