WHAT’S HAPPENING at S2
S2 Kings Island Trip
November 1
Our biggest trip of the fall is here, and we want you there! Grab your friends and join S2 for a full day at Kings Island. Ride the coasters, play the games, and make memories with your friends that you'll be talking about for years. This is such a great opportunity to build friendships at S2 and experience shared memories with friends and leaders that will last a lifetime.
When & where
Sunday, November 1st
Arrive at Sojourn East at 7:45 AM. Meet in the Atrium for check-in. We will load up, ride the bus to KI together and we should be back by 9:30 PM.
Cost: $90 per person
Your ticket covers everything:
- Bus transportation
- Park admission
- All-Day Dining: an entrée and side every 90 minutes, plus drinks and a snack all day
Why all-day dining?
Food and drinks inside the park add up fast, and a long day of walking and riding means students get hungry more than once. With all-day dining included, they can grab a real meal every 90 minutes and a drink anytime they need one, so no one is going hungry or rationing their cash by mid-afternoon. It also means there's one price for the whole day with no surprise costs, and students don't have to carry money or keep track of a wallet on the rides. The only thing they might want cash for is souvenirs.
What to bring:
Layers. Check the forecast. Mornings and evenings get cold in November, so bring a jacket or hoodie you don't mind carrying or tying around your waist. Comfortable shoes. Students will be walking all day. Closed-toe shoes stay on best on rides. Any medications your student needs during the day. Specify in the consent form. A little cash or a card, only if they want souvenirs or a locker. A small bag or pockets that zip. Loose items can't go on most rides.
We'll send more details about logistics, leader/chaperone information, and what to keep in mind for the day at the park as the trip gets closer. This info will be sent to the email you used to register your student, so keep an eye on that inbox.
Parents, come along!
We'd love to have you. If you want to spend the day at Kings Island with your student, sign up as a parent chaperone. The price is the same, $90.

KIDS DON'T NEED MESSAGES.
They need messengers and a place to belong.
Teens need caring adult friendships to not just talk and teach about the Christian life, but to model it and live it out with them. We know how formative the teen years are, and how important building a Christian worldview and authentic relationships are during this season. Therefore, we seek to provide a safe environment where students are loved, known by name, and challenged to prize Jesus above all things. We meet weekly, to stay connected with students, have fun, and talk about things that matter.
WEEKLY MEET-UPS
Wednesday and Sunday nights are our central touchpoints in the week with students where we enjoy fun activities, establish meaningful relationships, and engage with the truth of God’s Word. Both High & Middle School groups start off with social hangout time, move to a more formalized game/high energy activity time, transition into teaching time, and end with small groups (gender specific in middle school, non-gender specific in highschool).
Weekly Gatherings:
- Middle School - Wednesday nights, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
- High School - Sunday nights, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
(both groups meet in the Chapel)

Leadership Spotlight
JON MALKO
Jon has been faithfully serving students at S2 for over 8 years! His incredible commitment to the ministry, love for students, and desire to see them grow into the likeness of Jesus are just a few things that make him a great leader to our students and asset to our entire church community! Given Jon's longevity in serving and doing meaningful Kingdom-work, he is able to see the fruits of his work considering that several students he has invested in the past now serve at S2 alongside him or at other ministries at Sojourn while continuing to grow in their faith. We hope that stories like Jon's will inspire you to partner with S2 as a leader and/or parent volunteer with the goal that our students will live in the fullness of life that Jesus offers!

As an S2 leader, you have the opportunity to be part of an incredible ministry with unlimited opportunities to grow and have a lifelong impact on teenagers. You don't need experience with teens or youth ministry. We'll equip you and train you. All you need is a willing and teachable heart to fully engage in our fellowship of leaders and the world of teenagers.
