Hebrews: Hope for the Journey
The book of Hebrews was written to a community of believers who were facing fierce persecution, public ridicule, the plundering of their homes, and even imprisonment because of their allegiance to Jesus. Some held fast with joy, others quietly shrank back, and most lived somewhere in between. How do you encourage people living through such adversity? Hebrews doesn’t begin by looking inward at their frailty or outward at their circumstances, but upward. The author lifts their eyes—and ours—to Christ. In a world of fear, fatigue, and shifting pressures, Hebrews fills the horizon with the greatness, compassion, and sufficiency of Jesus, inviting us to hold fast and grow up into maturity in Him.
