Foundations Class: What it Means to be Human
This three-week adult education class, taught by Pastor Jonathan, is designed to equip our church with a rigorous and nuanced Christian biblical and theological understanding of what it means to be human, for the purpose of growing in “wholiness” (whole person holiness).
The class will meet from 9-10:15am on three non-consecutive Sundays: March 15, April 12, and April 26. We’ll be meeting in the Multipurpose Room. Please register to let us know you’re planning to join us, even if you can’t make all of the sessions. For more information on each of the three sessions, read below!

Week 1 (March 15) – “The Crown of Creation: Orientation to Theological Anthropology”
We’ll look at the Creation account in Genesis to consider what it means to be a human and offer a multi-layered analysis of humans as complex physical and spiritual beings.
Week 2 (April 12) –“Created by God: The Soul, the Body, and the Image of God”
We will consider what the soul is and how it relates to our physical bodies, as well as the key biblical idea that we are made in the image of God.
Week 3 (April 26) – “Created for Community: Humans in Relation to God and Each Other”
We will explore the Attachment understanding of human psychology to better understand how we develop and our need for healthy relationships with God and with others. We will also examine the biblical witness to what the communal life of Christians should look like.
